I am very excited to have this panel and as you’ve seen all of these speakers speak in the last two days so we have Gabriel cousins Brenda Davis Anna Marie Clemente and Bryan Clemente so this is actually very unusual you’re looking at 200 you know virtually almost 200 years of raw food experience it’s you know a lot of experience 150 to 200 years so there’s a lot of knowledge here
um and these are people that don’t have theoretical knowledge these are people that Gabriel at the Tree of Life and Brian Anna Marie Maria at Hippocrates have had guests coming to them for in the last 40 years so and Brenda does intense research so this is not theoretical it’s not just quoting someone else this is really hardcore what it takes to affect your health
now the conference sort of has a funny title did the panel it’s called diabetes what are the best scientific and nutritional studies ever done tell us about how to prevent and reverse diabetes but you could take the word diabetes out and put all your other health issues in and the recommendations they’re making are similar you know they’re not saying this is the diabetes diet but the cancer heart disease Alice homers diets are totally different the stuff that they’re recommending will be very beneficial for all health issues
so to get started um why don’t we just frame what’s going on I’d like if you would just say this there’s 320 million people in America the first question most people are gonna say is well does this affect me so if diabetes has nothing to do with them they might not be that interested so is does this have anything to do with anyone is this just some small group of people that have it or who actually has diabetes who’s gonna get diabetes that’s so who has it who’s gonna get it and then even if they do is it really so bad like it doesn’t you know type-2 diabetes it sounds like I don’t know so who does this affect us the people watching it do we need to be concerned how many people have it who’s gonna get it and what actually happens when you have type 2 diabetes because it so a lot of people doesn’t sound that bad
so is my phone on could you hear me okay good well the data is pretty overwhelming okay 27 percent of the people of course 65 years and older have over type-2 diabetes that’s a lot right that’s more than 25 that’s more than a quarter of the population and the population is increasing in age I didn’t say get older I said increasing in age okay the sec the second thing is 10% of people 20 to 60 have diabetes type 2 diabetes so that’s important probably the biggest statistic is a 1/3 of the people from 20 to 60 years old are pre-diabetic generally speaking pa diabetes has many of the degenerative effects of people with full-on diabetes that’s not so good that’s a third of the population between 20 and 60
now the second part of that question is the bad news the chronic degenerative diabetes syndrome are talking about is a serious degeneration in many of our organ systems our vision our brain function our neurological function our digestion and the tendency for depression exists there it goes on and on but the cardiovascular what two to four times higher rate of heart attacks so it’s pretty broad spread basically diabetes is accelerated aging so if you think that you don’t care about the fact that you’re aging that’s a big deal once you get diabetes but even the pre-diabetes in about 15 years all those kinds of things start to manifest including sexual function because you have decreased circulation to the sexual to the genital areas so it has a major impact on your physical function and I’m gonna say based on my observation a major impact on your mental function your cognition significant decreases so it’s a lose lose lose lose lose all the way down the line so it really affects people on every level and it takes about 15 years to get it so if you’re a 10 year old by the time you’re 25 your life is over functionally that’s what that means
oh no it is I think that the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics just released their I think last year their position statement on diabetes and one of the one of the stats they included was that American adults now 49 to 52 percent of American adults have either type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes and of course as dr. cousins was saying pre-diabetes says will turn into diabetes in fairly short order in most people so and I was just absolutely stunned when I saw that stat that we’re talking half the adult population frightening and we see that I don’t work of course all that every day we see that and you know you have something that’s totally curable diabetes type 2 absolutely totally curable I wish everything else could be told that you were totally curable so that is one thing if you have diabetes type 2 it’s absolutely curable but there are steps and we will talk about that today there are steps you need to take and it actually kills one American every three minutes it’s due to everything Gabriel said cardiovascular this that and you know then you have so you have diabetes type 1 you have diabetes type 2 you have gestational diabetes that a lot of women get while they’re pregnant and why does that happen suddenly it happens because we’re pregnant no because we eat junk and we don’t eat well when we pregnant that is a time that even more precious that we eat well and then you have diabetes type three which is actually called dementia Alzheimer because you make insulin in your brain in the hippocampus which is the learning and memory center and if that goes down the drain so does our memory and so there’s a lot of reasons to cure yourself from this and you will realize that what spikes insulin more than anything else is animal products so go vegan that’s the first thing you have to do you have to go vegan
let me let me broaden this outside of America this is a international audience we don’t want to constantly say America this America that we’ve been great at exporting a lot of things out of this country over the years but what we exported is a lot of crappy food so this is not just an American phenomenon as a matter of fact we have more obese people in Mexico our neighbor than we do when I used to go to France 30 40 years ago I didn’t see chubby people and that 20% of their population is and diabetes is growing worldwide so I’d like to tell you that in the South Pacific where they’re pretty much on plant-based diets they’re not eating an awful lot of junk food like we are they’re eating a lot of palm oils and our forests are being knocked down for those palm palm oils
but let me also explain what how serious this is in the context of how recently this has occurred when I peruse medical literature from the beginning of the 20th century it was not even mentioned tied to diabetes it was such a rarity and it was only with a fractional fractional part of the aristocracy that would contract this and they didn’t even know what it was at that point people would probably die or have a heart attack or have a kidney failure that go blind and they thought the spirits did it too so it was not even mentioned century ago
to top it all off when I was at school they used to call it adults onset diabeetus it was pretty easy then it was wrong but it was easy they said if you’re 27 and below you have type 1 diabetes if you’re 27 and above you have type 2 diabetes so it was easy to be an authority then because we tell you’re 26 and 3/4 you have type 127 you have type 2 that’s wrong that’s really wrong as you heard Anna Maria say yesterday there’s direct research not clear research not one or two studies many studies that show gluten and celiac allergies contribute to type 1 diabetes and there’s a slew of other things and as Gabriel just mentioned in his presentation pesticides fungicides herbicides genetically modified food – this is a whole new experiment we have just tried in the last generation or two then to top the whole darn thing off it went from nothing a hundred years ago to being the fastest growing disease that we have to concern ourselves with today because it creates the most demise it’s the disease that kills you only second to heart attacks and strokes which often are caused by blood sugar conditions actually in 1920 only one case was reported one case 1920 that’s a hundred years ago just like what you said
so the quick thought that most people have is okay diabetes is a very type-2 diabetes is a very serious issue so what I’ll do is I’ll eat less sugar or I won’t each other but they’re saying I’m a healthy person and I can eat sugar but I eat fish and that seems you know it’s not sugar a chicken ate egg whites sometimes I have pretzels because that has white flour or I have some pasta um these people in general believe they are not contributing to diabetes because they’re not eating sugar and junk but they are eating fish 1 chicken 2 egg whites 3 white flour 4 and you know and white and pasta same thing so on those four things fish one chicken two egg white 3 and white flour pretzels or pasta or cereal for each of those four is this really a big deal with diabetes as long as we’re not eating the sugar is it really make that much of a difference if we eat fish chicken egg whites or white flour each of those four
do we go first okay it makes a huge difference so what we know is that meat and fish and chicken all increase your rate of diabetes they did a particular study that was very very good involved twelve different studies and it showed that people who eat meat fish chicken I’m going to add dairy in there have 35 to 50 percent more diabetes so right off the bat we have that the more recent research shows that animal fat in particular definitely increases your rate of diabetes and also associated with destroying the beta cells of the pancreas fish fat in particular in particular actually kills the beta cells in the pancreas so if you even have two helpings of fish a week just to helpings you will actually accelerate beta cell destruction so the data is getting stronger and stronger that it makes a difference a very interesting research some of Buddhists really makes the point they took vegan Buddhist and meat-eating Buddhists and they found that the women who were meat eaters only had 3% of what American women have and the vegan the mediating men only had 8% but that being said when they compared the vegan to the woman who having only 3% of animal products they had literally double the rate of diabetes actually quadruple the rate of diabetes and the men only ting eight percent had double the rate of diabetes as compared to the vegan men so it even a very small percent actually makes a very significant difference I kind of leave it like that the rest would be an hour lecture by Tina Chu from she had well I I think it must have been yeah but she saw a seventy five percent risk reduction in women and 51 percent risk reduction in men know so it’s a different okay okay point being lots of studies on these things so even a little bit matters that’s the key
well I think it’s enough research proving for us that animal fat and protein spikes insulin and you need insulin for so many functions you need it for your brain you need it for you need it so that you can absorb sugar into the cell your energy source is glucose but you know if I don’t get it from the right source that’s when doughnuts look good when I get it from the green juice and I get it from wheatgrass and I get it from algie’s blue-green algae and spirulina and chlorella and all that then I don’t have that need so more or less we all have to be ahead of ourselves because we are all sugar addicts or we are recovering but that is that is the biggest problem for example if you’re on whey protein you know that that spikes your insulin about 30 to 50 times more then then sugar does imagine that so it’s sugar yes we got to be really careful we don’t eat any white sugar we don’t eat honey or maple syrup but our natural sugar comes from the greens and the uses that we drink that apps actually don’t have sugar from carrots and beets we stay very very green and why we’re so strict is because we’re living in a time that we have abuse sugar for a long time it’s been available in so many products so we’re in a time where we gotta make more careful and the more you learn about what fructose does to us and how it feeds cancer and cancer we’ll take advantage you know from your diet because it comes from food but I want to say so many times I’ve seen people that have got to our diet and and have shown amazing improvement and then they’ve had this big emotional stress and symptoms and numbers came rising all the way back so you know learning how to deal with life’s events and stresses too is really really important
research is wonderful I think it’s just great but you know the most important thing that I can tell you is over the nearly half a century that I’ve done my work I’ve seen thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of people reverse type 2 diabetes shame on you if you do not reverse type 2 diabetes as a matter of fact when people come through the program and they are diagnosed with that and their insulin is high we see rapidly 50 60 % of those people within the three-week period come off or not need insulin the most dangerous thing that we do at Epocrates our medical team has to watch these people like a hawk is have them checked with glucometers 2 3 4 times a day to make sure that the doctor is there and then when they get home the physicians reduce our insulin or if you continue to take insulin when you don’t need it you go into shock so that’s number one and I can tell you 100 percent of everyone so if I see them a year later and they say I’m still a diabetic they’re not doing what they should be doing they’re just not doing what they should be doing this is a non-issue this is a non-issue
and I’ll give you a story several years ago we have a local fella in West Palm Beach that’s a renowned diabetic expert and he has people fly in from all over the world to see him because he’s he’s renowned for putting people on insulin and watching them and making sure that they don’t have as many episodes of blindness and you know exhuming their arms and legs and fingers and all the horrible things that have heart attacks etc he probably minimizes it by a small percentage so his patients kept saying we’ve got to go to hypocrite ease we had to go to hypocrite ease because they’d meet people that came to us applied the program went home and healed diabetes so reluctantly he finally had to do it he brought a whole load in and we had a little tiny room and we packed in 200 people and it was one of those magical nights that I was ready to talk and I would have done a good job but not as good as what happened there was a woman who just graduated the program the Friday before this was a Tuesday and she kept pulling my pants leg and say let me talk let me talk and I didn’t know she could talk or what she’d say so I said okay I’ll give you five minutes well I turned the entire night over to her he spoke for 45 minutes I spoke for 15 minutes and she got up and she said do you know I was a diabetic for 28 years I was full blast on insulin my eyesight was going I had neuropathy I’d pain the bottom of my feet constantly and I kept taking more drugs for that all of the time and eight days after I came to Epocrates I was off insulin by the second week fourteen days I no longer had pain in my legs and she got up and she did a little dance for about a minute there and the people were just completely shocked what they said they actually thought I had paid an actress to come in and make that story up and of course the people who understood Epocrates in the group in the back were cheering and saying this is wonderful
so after we left I had to leave early and she left early the doctors stood up and said now remember everything that you heard is at a total there’s no scientific research to back this this is the problem we have today we have institutionalized corruption going on we’re willing to let people at pain suffering die have heart attack strokes kidney disorders for profit and that’s what we’re talking about here it’s no less or no more than that now we can dice the words and try to be polite and try to be nice but the bottom line is this is horrible horrible that people are suffering horrible that our children are suffering now type 2 diabetes are hitting five and six and seven-year-old kids it used to take 60 years of bad living now in the womb the poor child is getting fast food when they get out they’re given what condensed milk or worse than that you know formulas and what is that the number one ingredient in the organic formula is sugar go out and look at the health store it’s junk food the best one that’s called organic bogus Li called or guy that will give you a diabetes and then to top it all off to celiacs disease we talked about but when are we going to just wake up and do something about this stuff we can sit around and dice words play games be polite and act professional I’m pissed off at this time this should make you angry everyone listening in the world should be angry and you should go to your government officials and demand better because if we don’t do this this is going to wipe out and kill millions and millions and millions of people worldwide no question
I want to add something because I shared in my first lecture my experience with a man named Carlos who was on 40 units of insulin and 17 pills a day I had of course type 2 diabetes peripheral artery disease he had just had a major heart attack his kidneys were failing he had chronic gout and he was told by his physician he had two years to live at most he needed to get his affairs in order and he was also told by his physician that his diseases were progressive and irreversible and there was nothing that he could do about it and when Carlos started on a plant-based diet and got off all his insulin and all his medication reversed all of his diseases he went back to that physician he said to that physician why did you not tell me this was possible you know years ago I suffered so much and the doctor looked at him and said Carlos I’m sorry I just didn’t know it was possible and he said I honestly wouldn’t have believed it if you would have told me it was possible but he said I’ve seen it and I know now
you have the power to move your physicians your dietitians simply by your example and and you need to have the courage to go in and share what is happening with your health with them because I think most of our physicians really do care and they want to help they want you to heal they want you to get better they just don’t know any different they don’t learn about these things in medical school but many of them will be open and so we really need to not be afraid to share with them
you have to remember that you are the boss and a lot of times you’re intimidated by authorities to tell you what you can do and and when you can and you know so what happens for example Gabriel have seen it we see it every day that when you take the step and you change lifestyle and you change your attitude about what’s so important in the foods because like you know for us now I think for all of us food is not so food is our fuel so that we can do good things and be what we want and have the health that we want but it’s become this big gourmet things and and there’s shows on TV and this and that and we’re all like oh my god and and it’s it’s like as if God didn’t make food perfect and we have to make it perfect you know so yeah
so for people who are saying okay you know I don’t wanna have diabetes I don’t want to be sick you can eat healthy do everything you’re recommending and I have big salads I don’t I barely put that much cheese I just sprinkle a little I just sprinkle cheese on my salads said such a big deal I mean these cheese is dairy you know it’s as long as you’re not going crazy can you make dairy just putting cheese in your salads a part of your diet and still be living very close to optimal
a series of different books exposing different so-called foods or what we perceive as foods one is called dairy deception in there I reference study after study on diabetes being caused by milk and cheese and yogurt and the list goes on and on Greek yogurt and kefir and all the things that the health stores promote as healthy food I’ve written a book on fish I referenced study after study after study on diabetes and fish and Gabriel just added something that I didn’t add in that book cause it’s new research and so it’s killing a hundred percent of certain kinds of cells and I wouldn’t be surprised with what we find in fish today not only the rancid oil that’s called a lipid peroxide that causes heart attacks and cancers by the way not maybe definitely lipid peroxides do that I’ve written the book on poultry my latest book called poisoned poultry and by the way in that I reference study after study after study on how poultry poultry happens to be so we don’t call it a name it’s a chicken where most of you think chicken hi chickens good it’s an organic chicken organic chicken will give you diabetes Turkey give you more diabetes than chicken so those of you the safe I don’t need hamburgers I eat turkey burgers well you want diabetes great keep eating turkey burgers duck I showed you there’s a rare form of cancer until I studied for that book I didn’t know HHH a rare form of cancer you get from duck I didn’t even know that it causes diabetes and so the list goes on
and you know what we have to do is educate as I think Brenda said it so eloquently and correctly I’m Pro having roundtables Gabriel sat at round tables with me I’m Pro at bringing people in from every single discipline in healthcare and not saying one’s right and one’s wrong we’re all having something we can contribute I’m not a medical doctor doing particular work in a certain area we need that woman or man at that table and we all have to sit and share our experiences when do we get back to the patient again when do we talk why doesn’t the patient sit in the middle of that roundtable and we say okay leave your ego at the door leave the economic concerns at the door what can you do as a doctor or as a psychologist Gabriel happens to be a medical doctor and a psychiatrist what can you do and then we bring in somebody an exercise physiologist let’s bring dr. Kenneth Cooper in there what can you do for diabetes and why aren’t we doing that everyone’s out there yelling and screaming getting everyone riled up you’re more confused and you’ve ever been because more of us are talking than we ever have and the truth of the matter is this is easy stuff matter of fact diabetes Susanna Murray said if you don’t reverse diabetes shame on you but the truth of the matter is I think 80% of cancers can be reversed not maybe I think so why cuz I’ve seen these things happen heart disease another brain dead easy thing to do I mean heart disease isn’t a disease there is a few people that have bowel problems that’s a disease but when you’re sitting on your butt and you’re stressed and you’re eating all of this nonsense and you have a bad marriage and you hate your job and you don’t have connection with God guess what you’re gonna have a heart attack cause you probably prefer being dead at that point so that’s why people have heart effect you know and the list goes on and on and on and new disease not new disease I see things like multiple sclerosis they were rare now they’re going like this ALS Lou Gehrig’s disease going like this Parkinson’s going like this why is that happening because we’re more polluted we’re more sick we’re more consuming things that we should never have consumed load it with stuff that we should never have put into it and being ill-educated it’s easier to go with the status quo we believe no it’s easier to do the right
and a couple of other things about dairy and they know dr. cousins also alluded to this well not eluded you talked about this in your presentation but with type 1 diabetes and dairy I mean of course we know dairy is full of saturated fat and all sorts of things that dioxins and so on but but what many people not may not be aware of is that dairy products also contain a protein called beta casein Morphin 7 and there are different types of cows that produce different types of this compound some of which seem to be linked to increase risk of type 1 diabetes and children there’s another compound called Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis or ma p that is found in dairy products and in fact 95% of the large dairies with 500 plus cows actually the the milk was contaminated with ma p pasture e pasteurization kills a lot of it but even with pasteurization you’ve got about 2.8 percent of the samples were found still to have ma pee and there’s a kind of a genetic I guess a genetic mutation yeah that makes children who are exposed to those much more apt to develop this autoimmune disease in which they’ll attack their own beta cells and so there are these things that are associated with dairy as well that deserve some consideration
so I want to add to what everybody’s saying is that part of my work is out in the rest of the world where there’s a whole lot less resistance to the obvious and the reason is we’re not generations away from returning to the natural way of living so when I’m in Africa South America different places it’s we have programs where where we don’t involve the medical community all because they have the least amount understanding really in the big picture but really are training people to be let’s say diabetes prevention educators and their their local community people their educated and then they’re taking people’s blood sugars and giving them advice it it’s not that hard how do you just go back to the natural ways not complicated so that’s what we’re doing and we’re not involving it now what’s happening is some of the hospital’s some of the doctors are getting interested as referral points but they’re opening up to the idea that this is such a big problem such an epidemic problem it’s way beyond the medical world it really has to do with person to person and groups there are some governments that are considering kind of making it a national program it’s very for variety reasons plus it’s very expensive to treat diabetics it’s very expensive so we have at the governmental level a lot of people are getting more and more open to developing national programs that is a win-win for everybody it protects the health but also protects the finances of that country if you follow the diabetes but B these cost they will bank about all the nation’s because it’s like 13% now and it’s very expensive but it keeps going up so government officials outside of the organized medical type situations where their vested interest is brain is talking about there are a lot more open to just giving people the basics let’s cut out the soft drink so let’s cut out the sugar and go back to a niche way so that’s how I’m approaching it literally or literally around the world 17 programs and 11 two foundations so we can get around this we don’t need that medical community oh really okay thank you
um my next question is we are speaking about diabetes and it seems like you’re all saying that we should avoid cookies with sugar and ice cream and processed food and white flour and honey and agave nectar and you know smoothies with sugar and all that so then the obvious question that I’d asked hundreds of times I keep asking it because it’s just the obvious question is okay so where do we go with the subject of fruit and I guess dr. cousins I’ve asked Brenda and Bryan anna-marie this in other words if if we’re saying on one hand the whole world is saying fruits and vegetables are fantastic and fruits grow so they seem like the most natural thing yet Bryan Clements has said in annamarie that the fruits have been hybridized and because it’s been hybridized and picked unripe that it’s really not an all-you-can-eat thing so in terms of diabetes where do you stand on fruit
so there’s about eight studies out there that I reviewed and really they weren’t as clear as we like it but there’s only three fruits it seemed not to raise blood sugar blueberries bill berries and green apples that’s it that’s what all the eight studies are suggesting all the rest and some effect negative effect on the blood sugar so that’s what the studies show just as a way of thinking about it personally I have very very little fruit in my diet for just the reasons we’re talking about
I’d like to point out here when you’re dealing with a blood sugar problem it makes only really good sense medical sense and common sense not to give any form of sugar that will raise it and so that’s what we choose to do well I do too I’m sorry I didn’t make that point I’m talking about if you don’t have Dave exactly exactly and by the way as we’ve pointed out the other day I mean the fruit she picks 300 to 400 pounds of wild fruit that’s ripe every year I’m gonna come up to her house and start eating now that’s a whole different thing and the sugar contents probably one tenth that’s only for 9dr diabetics no fruit no fruit no fruit at all
so just to clarify Gabriel if someone has blood sugar issues whether they’re pre-diabetic they’re pre-diabetic should they be eating blueberries then fruit da say again no fruit no fruit you’re here I just gotta stop I said it in Spanish I’m sorry no fruity the fruit we’re gonna come to get done only if you don’t have diabetes and your blood Sugar’s consistently less than 100 are those three what I’m talking about blueberries blueberries and green apples let’s just say they have none they just have by far the lace a little different experience and I think in our program for example in the Marshall Islands we we include moderate amounts of fruits and still see complete reversal of diabetes all the time we have I have friends that run a mastering diabetes summit and have a mastering diabetes program they’re getting reversal in people with actually quite a high fruit diet so I think that you know there are so many different perspectives and we’re seeing success with so many different ways of going about this I think the bottom line is we completely agree on we need to get rid of animal products we shouldn’t be using the you know any concentrated sweeteners and all of that we have a little bit of a difference in our use of fruit in a diabetes treatment programs and so just so you know that it’s not we’re not all a hundred percent on the same wavelength where fruit is concerned
so you’re talking about food in the United States or outside the United States well I hate to say this but the fruit in the Marshall Islands a lot of it comes from the United States or Australia or other countries it’s just very small islands so the question I’m kind of asked he is as I mentioned in outside ahead States was the first world country and you have far more degeneration going on that what you could do in third-world countries is they have far less degeneration so not the Marshall Islands though they have one of the highest rates of diabetes yes they do but I’m making the kind of different let me try to reframe what I think Gabriel is saying that we have several generations we’re in our fourth generation of degradation now where I happen to be in the South Pacific a lot in the past and I would probably tell you that it’s maybe the second generation of degradation so each generation or organ systems our pancreas our entire body’s chemistry alters and gets worse so the volatility and vulnerability in the Marshall Islands to a little bit of sugar is wildly different than a European or an American that we started to eat sugar 100 years ago so that may be the difference and I would really question the long-term outcomes of people who were taking lots of fruit we did all of that by the way so what you’re suggesting your friends do suggesting ok very moderate amount but let’s let’s tell your friends yeah yeah the mastering not you I know you’ve not you you eat of incredible you eat the kind of diet I like a very sensible dice the sheets pretty much like we do and what’s funny we all come to the same conclusion after you do this long enough we don’t sit and talk to one another and scheme and say let’s all eat the same thing to tell people but but we all arrive at the same thing because we know what fuels us
but your friends let me challenge this a bit and I want to have another way to look at it not to say that you’re wrong or they’re right and they’re I’m right we did a lot of fruit so when people came to us for the last 62 years we did an awful lot of fruit in the beginning it was a it was a fun diet to come to everyone was high we were running around giving you carrot juice giggling all day long and people with diabetes we’re not getting well so it was a rare rare thing they were getting though today I don’t see people who can’t get well eating a green high-protein diet this is a high protein diet digestible usable protein by the way if you look at the usability digestibility absorbability we’re by far the highest protein diet on the planet Earth and protein regulates blood sugar so we haven’t talked about how to reverse it why it’s reversing is you’re getting absorbable amino acids that go into the cell and regulate but it acts like a magnet for sugar
well we’ll answer questions at the end yes so us are so worried about change oh you have to change you have to do something different what what is the big deal if I for the next two years they are a fruit you know what’s the big deal because usually in two years I have seen their recovery force it’s so good that then I can go back and I can have my blueberries blackberries apples and TVs and you know I’m not gonna have the high sugar fruits but so so what’s the big deal I think we have to put aside this thing oh my god I’m gonna change two years look back two years what was two years I mean there’s 2018 I mean I feel like it’s 2016 it’s like it’s so fast but you are really doing this recovery in that time and that’s the time most people need to be very very strict and that’s sixty years and between all of us I mean we have like what do you say Steve two hundred two hundred years experience what’s it what’s two years and just say okay if that works for so many people that I find staying out of fruit I’m staying out of all animal products and I’m getting into green juices and big salads and I having sprouts to it what’s the big deal and I get my supplements like blue green algae and I get chlorella and I get b12 you know I add these things that will help me in their in their and the journey chlorella if you come to or the Institute you see our guests they eating chlorella like candy because it really helps that sugar craving and it gives you sugar but it’s from this Overeaters like I was I could see people watching out around the world saying oh I’d rather die I’d rather eat fruit than two years of no fruit I would have been there at one point believe me
so based on all of your experience that the real question is that’s unique about this is you have dealt with you’ve been giving people raw food diets for a very long time I know people have come to see you who had ended up dying so this is obviously doesn’t 100% solve everything but the question that I guess people want to know is okay so sounds good how does it work do when people follow this exactly like you say dude and if someone follows this goes home and does exactly what you say what’s the how well does it work will they lose weight will their cholesterol and blood sugar get stable will all their other health issues resolved or you saying 50% of the time works 25% like how well does it work if you actually do this based on all your experience and all the people you’ve seen how well does this work
so one of the questions is there isn’t a same diet for everyone so we really actually have constitutional differences on chromosome 19 it tells us how much protein how much fat and how much carbohydrate we need so the diet actually has to be individualized so one of the things I do what I’m doing a whole person healing is I try to figure out whether this is the person needs a higher amount of protein or lower amount of protein how much fat so we start putting the diet to their constitution I like to tie that with a new idea but really an Oreo vadik medicine that we’ve been doing for three thousand years not a big deal cough up it divides and variations so one of the first questions is it has to be individualized and that’s key when you individualize it the next question becomes compliance so when I individualize people’s diet we’re talking a 99% success rate in compliance just being that diet
now my statistics I’m gonna I already tracked it intensely for three weeks which which is not huge compared to some other studies where five years is that in three weeks sixty-one percent of non insulin-dependent people are cured which means a blood sugar fasting about you less than a hundred and on no medications now that percentage dramatically goes up over time so for doc two years we’re talking about a very high six very high success rate not that 61% when it’s quote incurable isn’t a good result but three weeks very short time so over time as people are supported and staying on a diet that’s fitted their Constitution the success rate is pretty high probably in the 90 percent in terms of the bigger picture in terms of diabetes but also general health because we can’t separate general health longevity well-being optimum health from treating and let’s say reversing diabetes and curing diabetes there overlap but first you have to have a diet that fits the Constitution and then support in that way for people and now our experience working with people in the Marshall Islands is actually quite similar
so and and to be honest with you I was shocked when I first started working there at how rapidly a blood sugar normalizes and so it was within two weeks that almost all of our participants had to be taken off their medication or they would have been in having hypoglycemic reactions constantly so we would cut their medication in half almost immediately in half again within a week and they were off it within two weeks and so I think with type-2 diabetes it’s more rare that a person doesn’t respond to this kind of program than does almost everybody can resolve type 2 diabetes and they have I mean there’s a test you can do c-peptide where you know you see if there’s any remaining functioning beta cells and and there’s some people that have much more serious disease than others but even for those people they can recover health tremendously by changing their diet
nation we like to snack and you know why we like to snack is because our blood sugar is all over the place and we’re not satisfied we’re not satiated with within eat well I mean I was brought up on meat and meat and potato and it doesn’t fill you up that’s not the protein that’s easy to digest that’s not accepted by your body like a ball of sprouts and vegetables so you’re constantly hungry and you can eat and eat and eat all day long well actually when you’re starting with diabetes type 1 or 2 you need to snack you need to actually eat more often so what a lot of our guests have to do at the Institute they actually they eat the breakfast which is sprouted grains and then and whenever we have green drink and they have their supplementation and then maybe they have a protein shake which is no way in a way right and then they have then they have an extra meal so they actually in a package they save food for later and the same after dinner they might need it so they find that they can easier fix their insulin balance during the day too so that’s the only snacking that we are for but most people snack on ships and cookies and you know whatever comes their way and we’re doing that because there is a reason because we are not filled with nourishment our bodies are not satisfied so that that works for a lot of people too but good food that you snack on
when you start to look at this whole thing it’s it’s amazing that we’ve worked our way into a we created a non-existent disease in a century and I didn’t know that number I know in 1900 there weren’t reported cases but there was one reported case in the United States in 1921 backboarded case we I would get on my knees and pray the rest of my life for that again how many people are suffering how many people are in pain how many people don’t even know they have diabetes today they end up with a heart attack or stroke before they know
so here’s what I’d like to comment what I’d like to add to this conversation that the same exact diet we give you for diabetes we give you in our weight loss program the difference is we work you out like a lunatic – so you know we see such rapid reduction in weight loss there’s not a better weight loss program in the world than the living food program at Epocrates and we have trainers that get you out there and they have fun and that type of thing so the same thing that creates diabeetus creates fat in the body the same thing that creates diabetes feeds cancer not maybe it feeds cancer blood sugar feeds cancer there’s not a legitimate group of people anymore that doesn’t understand understand that except people who don’t read the current literature on that one and I would tell you when we put people on this diet we see radical change in neurological diseases everything from dementia down to multiple sclerosis and ALS and you know muscular diseases parkinsonian diseases and of course we do other things we use hyperbaric chambers IVs of whole food supplementation you know amino acid trips whole food B b12 injections and psychotherapy
the most important thing I wish I had because I kept cheating on sugar and cheating on sugar and cheating on sugar I’m lucky I wasn’t a diabetic like my mother died as a result of diabetes my brothers but one died as a result of diabetes and the fatty liver cause he ate so much sugar and my other brother became an alcoholic because the next step in in eating sugar is you booze it’s liquid sugar so the concept that it’s genetic that you become an alcoholic it’s completely absolutely wrong you become at twelve thirteen fifteen when you take your first drink an alcoholic when it burns your mouth because it’s liquid sugar that’s why you become that so it’s all pretty much synonymous is all of these things go to the same result
and the last thing I’d like to say is psychotherapy is important on this so getting groups you know and I’m a big fan of AAA you don’t have to be an alcoholic to go there it gives you discipline and if you have you’re struggling as a diabetic sign up for a a they’re free all over the world you can go there and go in and tell them I’m a sugar addict I’m a fat addict and if you have the support because likely your family’s eating the same as you so you don’t have the support find friends who have healed the best way to do this is find friends that have healed these problems and there’s all over the place and last thing I’d like to say although this is a high mountain to climb when you get to the top you see a lot more than you’ve ever seen in your life before life becomes crystal clear and filled and open and happy and fulfilling and you now become a functional member of the culture and society
one little cabinet – a sugar hand made both activate dopamine which feeds your pleasure centers so part of the transition away from sugar really away from me is beginning to evolve yourself in activities and a lifestyle that increases your dopamine which indeed is the live food lifestyle which obviously does include a lot exercise as well so it’s just beginning to understand because actually about a third of the alcoholics actually have a genetic defect where they weren’t producing enough dopamine so give them things that produce dopamine exercise joy happiness all the different things including a live flu diet which definitely increases your neurotransmitter production and your dopamine production so we want to give people positive reward centers believe it or not at least 90% of our cohorts have blood sugar difficulties particular application that says there’s a very close connection there
so I speak for a lot of people in this room and a lot of people watching on livestream that what this saying is ok was sold we believe you you don’t have to prove it with any more research we believe that what you’re saying would be helpful but I am I got to go home tonight I don’t own a juicer and I’m hungry so you’re basically and assume the person has health challenges their blood they are pre-diabetic their sugar is not so good they’re overweight they do need to be taking the best approach so you’re basically saying to them you know they’re trying to figure out how to get filled and you’re saying you can have greens and so they can buy spinach and kale and chard but that might not fill them enough you’re saying they could have sea vegetables like sea dulse and nori in this thing that’s pretty good um where’s the rest of this filling coming from are you saying load on the olive oil are you saying load on the seeds are you saying load on the nuts or are you saying go and take tons of lentil sprouts and bean sprouts or you’re saying takes tons of clover or onion and garlic sprouts like how do we get filled a and satiated B we believe you we think this is fantastic but to actually do it in practice and I agree that or I understand that you’re saying if you juice twice a day that makes all the difference but as soon so one doesn’t have that juicer and they go home tonight you know how are they they get how are they getting filled how are they getting satiated so they’re at least they’re full and then we won’t even worry about satisfied how do they get filled
we’ve got food it’s easy you just have beans and grains and you’re full how in this live diet am I getting full I think the first question is our statement is there’s never enough food to feed a hungry soul that’s the provider that’s the answer the question there’s never enough food food has never meant that much to me and the Native American Sun dances you go for days without food or water and the hot Sun which you’ve done yeah which I’ve done four years in a row right it’s no problem so the food is really a little bit more mental than it is physical now it doesn’t make people don’t need food generally speaking this is my observation you can double-check it but as people get on to live foods they find the less and less and less and they’re able to draw more energetic and material energy from the food so first thing we have to deal with our mental our mindset before we start talking about diet because really people really are eating way more than you should be eating generally than what the body really needs so as I say with the life food it’s a lot easier to eat less
now the second thing is when you cook food you lose 50% of the protein according to Max Planck Institute maybe 60 to 70 percent of the vitamins and minerals maybe 95 percent of the phytonutrients well what that means it gotta eat a lot more to get those so live food diet makes it a whole lot easier to eat less food and therefore it not really over eat and our through league program and we don’t focus on weight loss at all average weight loss is 18 pounds in three weeks we’ve had people losing as much as 48 pounds yeah but it’s not our focus it’s just what happens but the key is wouldn’t you go to live foods you really eat you can eat half as much and get the fuller nutrition but you’re also working on the mental aspect that’s why weren’t emphasized with that
Thanks sorry and and I full disclosure the the diet that I use for many of the the patients that I’m working with for example in the Marshall Islands and at home I’m not using a hundred percent raw food diet so we do include some cooked foods so what we would suggest is a huge salad to help you feel full a huge salad with every color of vegetable you can think of but perhaps adding a little bit of steamed sweet potato some legumes to help with satiety our salad dressing would be another seed base or tahini lemon kind of dressing and you know it it’s a pretty feeling meal
if we’re talking hundred percent raw living foods which has been so successful at the Institute we haven’t had to add cooked food to people with diabetes and the thing is it spits the step that you take so let’s say now that you go home and you go to your local store and you go to the organic section and you buy anything that’s leafy green there okay so you buy if they have sprouts you buy them and of course eventually you want to learn how to grow your own sprouts as much as you can you get some peppers you know green peppers and unripe so you have the yellow the red the purple you get that you get some ripen organic avocados avocados unfortunately if they’re not organic they’re heavy-duty spray so you want to go for the organic stuff and you get some onion I eat onion every day it’s full of sulfur is anti anti-inflammatory oh my god and you have ginger usually can buy there you have garlic you can make your own dressing and you enjoy this and then you can get nuts that are organic so you’ll buy some almonds some walnuts you soak those overnight and then you can enjoy them in your Aled and so I think you start with baby steps like that and like Brenda says maybe you’re not gonna go 100 percent wrong maybe because you’re doing it at home maybe you have some vegan soup or you have some bowl of beans and that will help you after all of the other stuff that you ate eventually you want to start making juice because boy that fills you up nobody is ever hungry at our Institute nobody will ever tell you boy you know I wish I could eat I could eat a ton more no you know they’re not hungry because the body is full in the body is satisfied every cell in your body is like thank you for taking care and we see it in the blood test before and after oh my gosh what what have Willing your body is to change when it gets the nourishment
we wish everybody had this experience we wish everybody could have come to Gabriel to to the Institute to Brenda to learn because what an amazing world we would have if we all could learn how to take care of ourselves which is our birth right it is and it’s something we’ve lost something when I first changed you know the only advocates I had were my grandparents and their generation they just really thought what I was doing was normal and my poor parents thought I was nuts maybe because they had already been incorporated into dependency so the way our systems in the world work today is to get you dependent upon the food chain get you dependent upon the professional get you dependent upon so it was sort of refreshing for my grandparents and their friends and other people of that generation when I said look it I’m gonna take charge of my life they said of course that’s what you’re supposed to be doing and why a lot of you are tenuous about this is because you don’t know it but you’ve been gone gobbled up by corporate interest you’re below the water line you’re drowning is what’s happening and this is much more simple than you can imagine
you know it’s sort of ironic I have this institute and I sit there and I pat myself on the back but I sort of had an absurd job it’s really a weird job I have to teach grown adults how to live why didn’t their parents do this why didn’t the school system do this why didn’t the spiritual systems do this and you sit here at 50 60 70 years old trying to figure out what the heck what’s going on how can we live isn’t that weird don’t you think that’s weird to begin with I think it’s really weird it’s weird that we have to hold this conference that we basically have to spend ten days a year bring the world’s leading authorities in here to hopefully disseminate truth around the world why is it truth readily available why isn’t truth the number one thing the first thing that everyone gets and then the nonsense comes after that you know what we have is a nonsense at the top of Google and the truth you have to look for like a pin in the medal of matter of hey and you know I don’t think we have to reinvent the wheel so people say oh Epocrates and Gabriel and you know we had a conference at Gabriel’s at several years ago called the elders conference where we had victorious convinced qussair to and we all came to the same conclusion after 200 years of work in this field and it’s not that we’ve invented anything there’s nothing we’re telling you that that we invented we’re just bringing you back to where people were and showing you how it works and in some way validating it you know a lot of you need science because you believe science oh you know science is a facade I’m gonna tell you that right now example example example is what you need I’ll take one good example of somebody who reversed diabetes then I will 55,000 studies although we read those studies every single day they said get boring after a while to be honest with you what we don’t want to do is intellectualize the process of healing we want to use our heart for healing we want to use our soul for healing we want to use God the spirit dealing because every single healings of spiritual healing and to come to a realization where you respect and honor life so much that you really humble yourself so much but you turn yourself over to nature that’s what we’re asking you to do this isn’t a scary thing what we’re doing is scary
so I want to go back to my exact question because I’m saying with it there’s a lot of people that a hundred percent in they want to do this they see the crazy things they are trying to figure out what to have for lunch so again they gotta understand lettuce doesn’t fill us no one is no one satisfied with iceberg lettuce the onion doesn’t do it so now you have lettuce and onion and you’re starving so now you’ve got to add something so our choices are so no and of course the emotional health and exercise and sleep but in terms of the food you know to get down to exactly we on top of that salad do you know we were putting greens on that helps but where are you saying people are gonna get the satisfaction is it you’re saying is it the greens is it the sea vegetables is it the onion clover radish sprouts is it sprouted grains is its red beads should we load tons of seeds on tons of nuts should we put olives tree put avocado slike in other words one way to do this is with fruit if we’re saying fruit is out then we’re saying that we could all load loads of avocado olive oil and nuts if you’re saying that’s not what you’re saying then we’ll are you saying we will get filled up with onion and clover sprouts radish sprouts you know where where is the Hardcore satiation coming from so that this can become a reality assuming we want to do it
so what Gabriel is doing is what Hippocrates is doing so let him speak with one loud clear voice exactly we all came to this conclusion so they started with there’s never enough food to feed hungry soul the real satisfaction comes within so when we are in touch with our soul soul food and we are really operating from that deep sense of fullness within ourselves we are eating they get full the emptiness that we’re talking about is an inner emptiness and I mean that really seriously because when you are full from within you really aren’t that hungry and you use your food not to fill the emptiness but to maybe give you a certain amount of energy that you need and that’s questionable too but the point is if you’re really talking about filling yourself then that means something else is going on that’s not related to food so fill from the inside first then the food is secondary and you pick the right amount supply the right for your particular energy needs and your particular Constitution this is key concept
nuts seeds sprouted nuts seeds nuts and seeds nuts and seeds nuts and seeds they’re the fillers they have the fats they have the proteins although you’re not getting most of your protein from that sprouts give you the most protein but the fact is the nuts and seeds give you that cessation that you’re looking is that a risk if you’re having too many avocados olives nuts and seeds that you got too much fat there is a too many but I mean you’d have to be completely off the deep end to get too many on this thing I was more worried about over eating pork chops at one point I once met a person it was eating eight avocados a day the only person ever saw it gained weight on the wifehood diet I know who that is [Laughter]
spinach and arugula you add all kinds of leafy greens too they all come in with their own phytonutrients and and help you to but you’re not saying that what you’re saying you want us to fill up on the greens and the sprouts and not really use the avocados olives nuts and seeds is the main thing like innovation if I put you know eight tablespoons of olive oil on my dressing that’s not what you’re suggesting well everybody’s constitution is different some people need more fat some people need more protein I think the issue is the inner and then specific to your constitution I’ll add one more trick it’s not really a trick chew your food fifty to a hundred times and you’ll see your again mentally overeating if you chew your food you’re getting a lot more nutrition but it keeps you from just stuffing yourself trying to stuff your emptiness just a few things like that give you a gibbous story
I have this wonderful man I know he’s a macrobiotic teacher really humble beautiful man from Italy lives here in the United States now and his father was a renowned chef in Italy during the Second World War and the Nazis I didn’t realize even hated chefs he didn’t have to be Jewish or Catholic or an artist or a homosexual they hated chess anyone who was a you know higher placement so he was in a concentration camp during the entire war and after the war they gave him an award he was the only man that survived even the last group of men that were there I think they all died shortly after they were released and he never spoke about this and on his deathbed he said daddy he said you know I’m so happy you live so much longer and I got to know you that you didn’t die during the war because he was born at the beginning of the war and he finally talked he said what did you do he said they’ve given us a little tiny bowl of grains a day and dirty water they would actually and I won’t say what they did but do horrible things to the water and then put it in and he said all the other men would eat it like this like there were wild and ravish and and consumed so I went to the back away from everyone I closed my eyes and I actually decorate at the table with fine linen noodlin and everyday and fine china every single day and crystal glasses and I closed my eyes and I created a meal and I chewed and I chewed and I chewed and I chewed and he said as my father was dying I was crying thanking God my father knew how to chew that’s how powerful it is this guy survived the Holocaust because he chewed there was no nutrition in this stuff but the reality is the little bit that was here sustained hi thank you
I have a lot of questions especially about the vegan style diet like for example I have a husband who’s very thin he has the opposite problem he doesn’t have a weight gain problem but a weight loss problem and so you know if I just gave him salads there’s no way he’d be starving before he went to bed usually I you know feed him quite well and then he’s hungry again before bed but his blood Sugar’s were pretty diabetic and I’m an avid gardener I planted apple trees I have a lemon tree and an orange tree growing in my house I have chickens like I planted organic garlic you name it I’ve got it in my garden and so we do believe in you know taking control of what we’re eating and eating organic and all of those things but I stumbled across well there’s there’s two questions that I have because the Blue Zones where people live to be over 100 aren’t they eating meat I think that they are right and those those like Sardinia Okinawa some of these places where the people all tend to live over 100 there they’re not vegans right there they’re eating me and that would might be my first question and that correct
did you want me to answer that right away we’ll do one question at the time the Blue Zones there are five Blue Zones one is the seventh-day Adventist vegetarians of Loma Linda so they’re not consuming any meat but some are lacto-ovo vegetarians some are vegan the second is Okinawa Japan the only notable animal product included is fish and they eat on average one half ounce a day so that’s 15 grams so that’s about three three and a half ounces a week not very much at all we have the people in the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica and and and so the other three the Nicoya Peninsula Korea Greece and and Sardinia Italy they all include small amounts of animal products but the diet is predominantly plant-based they all consume a lot of legumes and they’re all consuming you know they’re consuming and predominantly unprocessed foods the amounts of animal products differ a little bit within these populations but is still very very low about the Blue Zones love is not that they’re eating a small amount of fractional meat and most or not it’s that they’re eating overwhelmingly plant-based diets the latest study that came out on centurions annamaria presented two days ago it’s out of New England uh thousands and thousands of people they actually looked at not only centurions but what was it eighty some people that are over 110 years old guess what the people who eat the most plants and all plant diets live the longest now this is in writing out of the hierarchy of mainstream science at this point
so the point is your husband who has diabetes has to stop eating the eggs out of the chicken jab running around that’s the stop eating meat by the way healthy diets do not put weight on your body healthy diets do not your husband needs to get into a gym where I was four to three hours today because skinny people by the way have to build muscle are you gonna be awfully skinny and by the way chubby people like fat people like I used to be have to get into the gym to get rid of that take your fat and produce muscle eighty two percent of muscle comes from fat so it’s great to be chubby in this case and it’s harder for your husband it’s gonna take them three years to do what you can do in a gym with a chubby person in six months so that’s what has to happen it’s not just about eating food you know every one of us here I know every one of these people we all exercise a lot all of the time
so in terms of overall health in terms of supplementation if you were gonna give someone I know it’s obviously better to meet with someone individually but if there were general rules that everyone could write down the one two three four five most important supplements that they need to be taking in addition to their food and assume they don’t know so they’re not looking for suggestions an idea they want exactly the regimen to start tomorrow morning what are the absolute unquestionable supplements that every one of us would want to add to our health regimen
well I’m gonna talk a little bit about diabetics bits two for every li almost everybody’s deficient or needs to take us up in vitamin C but it’s a full vitamin C not ascorbic acid which is not vitamin C most everybody is deficient in the B vitamins and when we do the math about human act of b12 we’re talking at least 80 percent of vegans being deficient at the higher levels which is 400 micrograms not 200 micrograms a day and meat eaters are also deficient in b12 eight percent higher incidence City eight percent higher incidence after 28 years I’ve looked at yeah so so basically we need to fool B people stress and so for today’s having a big big effect the other thing is that the omega-3 long-chain omega-3s our society is significantly deficient in that so that’s a big issue I would strongly recommend the DHA epa and get it from a plant-based algae source those are like three big areas 85% of the population is deficient in vitamin d 50 to 85 percent that’s a big issue vitamin D affects over 3,000 of our genes and iodine about in our society about ninety-five ninety-six percent our iodine deficient those are just a few of the kind of basic so we have gross deficiencies in our society generally in in 1936 the US Congress said that 99% of the u.s. population is mineral deficient so we need some kind of you know support –
I absolutely agree those are the exact nutrients I would have totally agree the only caveat the only thing I would like to add to that is in my book supplements exposed I point out that all supplements are not created equal nine out of ten are not healthy for you that they’re made out of chemicals and laboratories so they have to be whole food-based alive you don’t take a microscope and look at them dancing you shouldn’t be taking mostly they’re made out of petrochemicals of all sorts absolutely food concentrates is what we’re talking about that dr. cousins
everywhere I’ve heard in the whole food plant-based community the thought is eat a whole food plant-based diet and get you cholesterol lower in rural China they had really low cholesterol levels it seems that for the last 20 years everything I’ve heard is low cholesterol below 150 makes you heart attack proof and then you said during your lecture that actually 159 is safer and lower cholesterol is connected to depression and other issues I’m wondering the discrepancy because again it seems like they’re saying in all these rural China areas they in the China study that they were saying that people had naturally levels below a hundred of cholesterol so if we’re eating a plant-based diet and our natural cholesterol is one-twenty one-fifteen one-ten what point are you making about cholesterol
D well mostly we make 80% of our cluster or at least in our liver ourselves so I never think about a low cholesterol or high cholesterol diet and I’m also looking at data not in China because it’s a different culture and a different genetics I’m personally talking about what we’re talking about in the United States where we’ve seen but include studies around the world that a cluster between 162 to 60s you is actually safe but the dangerous is the lower cholesterol and the data is there I even learned at medical school very indirectly but people with low cholesterol are much more likely to be depressed because you need cholesterol as a receptor site for serotonin which has an antidepressant effect so I kind of knew about it in a whole different way back in the 60s so what we’re looking at is you have six times more suicide with lower cholesterol that’s just a fact and if you’re in the upper lower 25% you’re talking double the rate of suicide because locura unique austell for proper brain function so it’s more like that kind of understanding is that when we examine lower we do have some problems you’re going to have more stroke with lower cholesterol you’re gonna have more cognitive decline I’m not going to cite all the studies but it’s pretty clear people lower cost you’ll have greater cognitive decline than people with a higher cholesterol so basically these are studies are looking at so I try to look at it holistically and say okay we can worry about close to but man what we shouldn’t because if we go too low we can create some problems for ourselves now that’s the America that kind of more Western European American culture where that data is from so that’s how I look at it and it doesn’t really include China which is really a different more of a different genotype so it’s a good question mostly I’m saying don’t worry about cholesterol it’s the second biggest fear is we have Alzheimer’s and you have cholesterol it’s what people worry about and actually low cholesterol contributes to cognitive decline as well
I’ll look through another window at this as a vegan and always advocating you know cholesterol is bad it can give you a heart attack skew strokes which is all true and my colleagues Duff Kristen will explain that to you and Dean Ornish’s work that’s the particular window they look through now this is an evolving understanding science is not static science is not this is science and we should institutionalize it we learn as we go with this and what we do know with Centurions is they generally have higher cholesterol and when they don’t have dementia they generally have higher cholesterol so I’m ready to completely radically shift what I’ve said for 35 years we’re always high cholesterol in every case is going to be a problem for you I think the difference in my mind now and it’s evolving is that after a certain age high cholesterol sarn’t going to give you the potential for heart attacks and strokes like it would at 30 or 40 years old what we seem to know is that if you want to live to a hundred years old your cholesterol better be on the high end and I think the numbers you pointed out are absolutely correct so I’m seeing this once the studies came out I started to open my mind to a different thing and I see the 80 year old sitting in front of me in the 90 year olds and guess what they have 200 they have 250 except when I would have been yelling 20 years ago oh my god you’re gonna have a heart attack and they’re just sitting there saying yes but your memories going bad and mine’s not so holistically is the key here heart attack is only one thing and truly if you’re a vegan you don’t really have to worry about heart attacks that’s right really not what’s going on and don’t worry about your cholesterol either
they want to decrease the fear factor just you know there was a new president council summary on cholesterol and heart disease and saturated fat and heart disease it was looking at diet and heart disease in probably just a couple of months ago and there’s definitely still concern about very high cholesterol levels and heart disease but I think people need to understand that high cholesterol levels alone are probably not going to do the trick you need inflammation oxidative stress lipo toxicity dysbiosis all of these things that will come together to cause cardiovascular disease if it’s just higher cholesterol is alone and you’re eating a wonderful vegan diet you’re probably on pretty safe safe ground on the other hand I know an awful lot of vegans alike myself whose cholesterol sort of you know around 130 or 140 whoo I mean I’ve never been depressed today in my life and I I feel like I’m very very healthy and I don’t want to necessarily do some you know start eating very differently I already eat a lot of nuts and seeds and avocados and so forth so I’m not really convinced that I need to make huge changes to try to increase my cholesterol either there’s still a lot of questions in this area
place in Canada you don’t know you could be a vegan in the dark you’d be depressed but it’s not true we have a grey sky almost the whole winter do you really mean that Valley that cloud and I thought boy if I can stay happy through this you travel a lot yeah so it is individual individual and and like Gabriel says we have to make programs individual and you know a lot of our guest comes in and they say well my whole family has high cholesterol ever gonna move and it moves and they’re shocked it moves all the time all the time so obviously we get to where we should be and so you might be in a certain number I might be a little bit higher a little bit lower that’s all individual but you will actually get to where you should be that’s that’s the trick yeah that’s the good trick yeah
so what we found in our program is generally just doing the full 100% live food for most people there’s a 24 percent decrease in cholesterol well we got to kind of look at as what see a lot of holistic physicians now are saying something different the main cause of heart disease isn’t cholesterol it’s inflammation and it’s inflammation the cardiovascular system that’s the real issue not cholesterol so let’s kind of get that clear it’s very important to get clear on colosso comes later but actually triglycerides are a bigger problem and as I showed this morning that on this diet with more fat and less carbohydrate because carbohydrates raised triglycerides that you really don’t want to be above a hundred at most and on this diet which is higher fat 25 to 25 percent plant fat we had the lowest triglycerides 82 whereas the kind of low fat diets had much higher because they were doing a lot more carbohydrates and it’s the triglycerides that are actually a much more serious threat to your cardiovascular system just to kind of put it in perspective but inflammation is the big issue what helps triglycerides and what helps fat and what helps diabeetus and what helps everything we’re talking about is good fats which is sort of scary too if you’re not a nutritional guy you know good fats prevent diabetes good fats prevent heart attacks good facts prevent mental illness
and another point on the triglycerides is that there’s a huge difference if you’re eating a fairly high carbohydrate diet if the carbohydrates are refined versus unrefined so with dean ornish when he first started doing his program there there were quite a number of refined carbohydrates they they used flour products a lot no the the program that I’m doing in the Marshall Islands we don’t we have a whole grain hierarchy we draw the line at intact whole grains we don’t use flowers and so we actually had a forty four point drop in triglycerides on our program even though it was relatively high in carbohydrates carbohydrates came from whole plant foods not refined foods and there’s a very significant difference what’s interesting the same grain you take the same grain you could take it from the same plant and if you refine one it’s a problem and the other one is not isn’t that interesting just shows you how delicate nature is
let me wrap up with a question a four part question for each of you what do you think about I mean how strongly is part of your plan are you recommending sea vegetables we kind of I don’t know if everyone gets like is this just a condiment like little oh are you saying this is a real significant part number one number two fermented foods meaning raw sauerkraut or any raw vegetables that are fermented third just throw in everyone’s always talking about gut bacteria how to include be crude prove you got any thoughts on that and finally anything on electromagnetic field protection from cell phones those four points to wrap up with
sea vegetables fermented foods gut bacteria and EMFs well I personally eat a lot of sea vegetables because of the Fukushima I tried to get it really from the Atlantic coast or the North Atlantic versus the Pacific sea vegetables have a tremendous amount of nutrient value they have many many really good things about a slice I add that in a big way in the diet now fermented foods are connected to building up a healthy gut biome and kimchi type of thing is helps a lot and it’s natural and it’s tasty and so forth so I do recommend the fermented foods in that way the there are lots of things with the electromagnetics but I kind of hope I answered the three before we talk electromagnetics it’s a huge problem it will become a bigger problem particularly with the 5g coming in my personal feeling there’s a lot of devices out there that can be protective and I think everybody should you know check what works best for you and wear something because we’re in a very unnatural situation first time in history and we are seeing increasingly rates of cancer from that do use the cell phone same thing people a lot of cancer people carry you know their cell phone they get cancer the parotid gland and so forth keep your cell phone away from you use the speaker okay but don’t carry it on you because it’s creating electromagnetic problems particularly you carry it in your your chest pocket or whatever not a good idea it’s right over your heart so minimize use of the cellphones and wears some sort of protective device I’m not going to magic is there’s lots of ones that seem to work and actually sometimes they seem to be overlapping so you can wear two or three protective devices and they’d seem to have a piece to it so that’s how I kind of approach it because we are a little different we have to pick devices that actually work for us and you have to really test to see if they’re working but we do need to have some kind of protective devices at this point
and I have to be honest I probably don’t use as much sea vegetables as I should in in my programs I use a little bit I like to use them as a source of iodine so haven’t I just learning I’m a little bit of a baby in that area yeah the fermented foods definitely I encourage their use I do fermented vegetables myself and and also fermented cheese’s with nuts and things like that so I think they’re very valuable we need to have not just the probiotics from fermented foods but also the prebiotics as well so encouraging the use of legumes and so forth that you know artichokes and the the foods that are rich in prebiotics and then what was the third thing bacteria which got bacteria oh yeah so that’s the same story that fermented foods um and and the prebiotics and then the electromagnetic field I know almost nothing and but I know in just from instinct I do not keep a cell phone near me I just don’t think it’s a good plan and so I mean the research is definitely growing in this area and I think we we need to pay attention to it
so yes seaweed I love my kids that was the first food so my kids are nursed and the first food that they were attracted to was dull and of course there is some sodium naturally from the ocean so I would just dip them you can’t soak dolls but I would dip them and then I would tear all the little leaves apart and dip them again and dehydrate them for like 24 hours and then I could bring that to the theaters I I actually smuggled in my six months old to a show here in New York and it was the drums what was it called and anyway I had him in a big scarf because he he loved things like that so I was nursing it but I would have a little ball of their dolls and and he was in stem in heaven well anyway so it was the first natural instinct we’re born with two instinct we need glucose we need sodium and we will look for that in any which way and and for example my first sodium was probably from meat and the salt on that and my first glucose was probably an ice cream cone I stuffed in my face and so that’s the kind of sugar that I wanted for a long time so most of us got into it that way and so see with amazing food and it’s used of course you know all over the world and Japan has done tons of research about it and people who ate seaweeds like health and when Chernobyl happened probably got out of having thyroid cancer and probably the same things happening now in Fukushima and so that is very very important after Chernobyl happen I went back to Sweden that was 1986 when that happened Swedes were told to help to support themselves because that radiation the clouds I was raining over Sweden and Germany and all over Europe we got plenty of radiation and people are still suffering thyroid cancer still so you can just imagine what’s gonna happen with the radiation from Fukushima Fukushima is three reactors Chernobyl was one reactor Chernobyl will not be inhabitable for a hundred thousand years so you know so so seaweed is a big there to protect us
when it comes to fermented food yes we serve kimchi and we serve the zero sauerkraut of course our sauerkraut is not what I used to make in Sweden which was three months old and he could walk by itself by time this one is just like three days fermented and it tastes amazing so when it comes to electromagnetic field interrupter zai worked for the last two and a half year with professor Wahlert in germany who is amazingly involved in working with quartz and he with colleagues made a quartz pad that i’ve put together as a locket and it’s called angel Paul’s like hi Paul’s and this has 99% interference interruptin so it’s it’s an enormous help and of course I don’t want to wear the cellphone and think that this is going to support me 100% but it’s it is a help you wear it at all time it will last you for a lifetime and you know there are a lot of things out there on the market like Gabriel said maybe you need to check maybe you need to wear something maybe you need to check what works with you because also emotionally when you wear this it’s protecting you from electromagnetic cuz that interferes big-time with you emotionally so in our last magazine you can read about until we have an article the magazine that all of you have it’s I think I’m pretty sure that caroline has it here the high post and it’s by far the state of the art we looked at it with a microscope when we met this wonderful German doctor five years ago and what he did is he took courts and he weaved it in geometric patterns that’s Universal 360 degree for everything else and we’ve been wearing these devices for 40 years anna marie and i they only have mono focus so they attract like a magnet rather than even through through your body from the back in front
so sea vegetables have been part of the Hippocrates diet since the first day so 1956 when Ann Wigmore opened the doors of Hippocrates she said the most important foods is a very first life-form that ever existed algae and sea algae the second life form and the third grass and the related seeds we call sprouts so the core of our diet is that but sea vegetables are important after the fiasco that is still leaking so you know that it has I happen to know somebody that Gabriel knows that went to high school with the physicist they sent from America the expert Ennis and he said this was a human problem he said when they were supposed to turn the valves one way they turned it the opposite way the next thing they did the opposite of what they should and it’s still leaking and so Hawaii now has seven thousand seven thousand times more radioactivity than it did before and so where was it that it hit the most in Florida believe it or not it hit over Cocoa Beach Florida so that bloom of radioactivity with the jet streams went all across the earth settled over Cocoa Beach Merritt Island around to Orlando Florida and dumped the most radioactivity there so don’t think because this happened in Australia that you’re void of that and seaweeds as Anna’s country which is always refreshing to be around a government that really cares for its citizens it’s quite unique and certainly not so here in the United States that they actually told people you better start eating sea vegetables there they also told them when Anna was a little girl stop eating fish that fish is polluted they also told people in northern Sweden after Chernobyl don’t live here anymore because you’re going to get rid of don’t eat anything from up here anymore
so any of you that are interested in having a longer life a healthier life and not getting cancer you better start taking sea vegetables and so it’s a big part this morning when anna marie and i got up we took five types of algae’s which we do every single day other than fast day and after Chernobyl and after the Japanese problem what I did is I created an algae that comes from the most pristine water in the world off Iceland and it’s cold life give CSEA strength it’s very easy to take it’s a liquid what we do is we mix it into the container where we put five or six different things minerals selenium iodine’s etc we shake it up every morning we drink it down so life gives see strain we were involved with something many years ago called rejuve alack at Hippocrates it was something Ann Wigmore brought from Lithuania she went to the Slavic countries now in the Baltic countries you may find this this is a traditional food in Europe drink I should say where they put grains in water the idea was it fermented good bacillus good bacteria and we were all telling people forever and unfortunately today some people are still telling people to drink it back in 1981 there were four of us in the world that were leaders in the raw food movement and weak Moore was one she wasn’t in the room and I won’t name names but the other three of us were in the room and I looked at one because I have the big Irish mouth and I said are you taking rejuve alack and they said no I said are you taking rejuve elect no and they said how about you and I said no we were out telling you to take rejuve alack but not doing it ourself we all Haddix we don’t need it anymore we evolve it was baloney let me tell you that and there was a guy in there that worked as a biologist the University of Massachusetts and Amherst and he volunteered to do this study on it the tests on it a week later he called me up and said we better rename it to rejuve art because yes it has maybe healthy bacteria in it but it also has bad bacteria and we have no control over that because if the breeze blows or somebody sneezes in the room or their dust mites it’s cold in the morning so that’s why kombucha is a joke don’t go near a kombucha kombucha is almost always garbage water I’ve never seen it in pure water where they put white sugar in then they tell you a mushroom it’s not a mushroom it’s a fungi that’s growing kombucha is not a healthy drink and then to top it all off they put a gobby syrup or honey in it so it’s alcohol that’s more alcohol than beer and some of them have more alcohol if they last long enough I wonder if people are walking out of these health stores with red noses with kombucha you know I’m a health guy yeah you’re drunk guy is what you are so don’t buy into all of this nonsense sometimes
I’m very proud my wife is much more quiet than I am but she’s much more powerful than I am in many many ways she’s for all the almost four decades I’ve been with her she’s been a great teacher and a great leader and when she sees on a daily basis as we do people dying of cancers and neurological diseases she asked this wonderful doctor who’s probably the number one man alive today in bio frequency fields she interviewed the top doctor in the world who’s a Swedish oncologist in this you can read this on the Hippocrates website healing our world put in and this week you’re going to see America’s leading authority a colleague and friend dr. Deborah the EVR a davis when is dr. Davis going to be here Sunday so dr. Davis was Bill Clinton’s top scientist for eight years and they did studies that showed that cellphones didn’t hurt she then looked at it and realized that they absolutely cheated on those studies and now became the number one advocate in the United States against cell phone use and works with Stanford University of California etcetera so like you heard once and I will repeat so you don’t forget out here and in the world never use a cell phone at your head unless you want thyroid cancer and brain cancer never use a bluetooth as the Italian showed us you get the same brain cancer less operative all goes in deeper that way put it there you speakers my kid hates me all of my four kids and my grandkids think I’m nuts because I’m talking I’m not talking dirty I don’t care do that so you don’t stick it to your head put on it what we’ve looked at over the decades the one device that we see is real it’s scientifically valid we’ve used it now for 20-some years is called a gia GI a and I can assure you what Anna Maria did with the German doctor there’s nothing that matches this because it does something different than everything else and that’s called the high pulse and I don’t do you have any of that here with you Caroline okay so she has some of them
so let me say to you that the bio of your intestinal tract is who you are if that’s weak you’re going to die you’re going to age you’re going to get a disease not maybe not possibly you’re going to get psychological problems not maybe not possibly these are definitely going to happen so we think along with taking sauerkraut and kimchi and all the wonderful things that support it they are don’t have a full spectrum of Pro and prebiotics so we choose to create the strongest of all on the planet earth called life give instinct you can get it in 50 which is good for half the population 80 which about 30% of you need in 200 which 20% of you need the 200 are usually people who took long-term antibiotics long-term chemotherapy and really really devastated your entire system and so we think supplementation is a necessity and by the way in many cases we don’t only take it orally which is absolutely important but we actually take the content and inject it anally and hold it to once again reconstitute your immunity 70% of your immune system comes out of your intestinal tract maybe possibly definitely
